In her own words: In
1988 on a silent retreat seeking my life’s true purpose, I heard a
clear sentence: “You are here to bring the authentic voice of the
feminine to arenas of decision-making to help re-balance the planet.”
Since then, my focus has been in service to that mission.
As
a platform for this work with women, I learned how to influence
decision-making as marketing director of a computer manufacturer and
found out how to ask for what I need during a decade spent negotiating
public sector labor contracts.
I discovered the geo-political dimensions of being a woman with power as an elected public official on municipal, state and national levels. In the process, I acquired graduate degrees in organization development and conflict resolution from American and Harvard Universities.
My work with women is also informed by an international consulting and executive coaching practice advising corporate, academic, manufacturing, governance and health care clients on ways to adapt to change. While in those systems, I advised women leaders on ways to take care of themselves and their careers when involved in a change initiative. Consequently, I pioneered a developmental career coaching approach that I teach in a university certificate program.
During this past forty years, people have lived through a profound shift in women’s access to positions of leadership. To assess what women experienced seeking these positions and, once there, how they exercised power, I interviewed over 1500 women on four continents. The findings and models developed from them resulted in appointment as Visiting Scholar at the Centers for Research on Women at Wellesley College.
In the course of learning together, you will undoubtedly also hear about the cross-cultural women’s journeys I led to Celtic Countries, my commitment to international peace, my seven grandchildren and Reiki. Meanwhile, I will grow listening to you.
